HootSuite is a social media management tool that allows you manage multiple social media accounts. HootSuite supports these social networks:

  • Twitter
  • Facebook
  • Google+
  • LinkedIn
  • foursquare
  • WordPress

According to HootSuite, “you can instantly send messages to all of your followers on Twitter, check in on Foursquare, monitor and manage your Facebook Pages, and view your LinkedIn connections wherever you are. Upload photos, receive notifications, view click stats, and more. Simple, elegant, and powerful, HootSuite allows you to schedule or instantly share Twitter updates and Facebook status updates from anywhere.”

Getting started

  1. Download the app and click Create a HootSuite Account (Android) or Create Your Account (Apple). If you already have a HootSuite account, click Login.
  2. To create an account, enter your email address then create a password. Click Create Account when finished.
  3. Choose whether or not HootSuite can access your contacts.
  4. Add Social Networks by clicking on the individual social networks options. Note: you may need to log into the social network.
  5. You’ve set up HootSuite!

When you open HootSuite, here are what the icons mean (click to make it larger):


When you click on the Compose icon to post, you’ll see this screen with a variety of options to enhance your post (click to make it larger):


When you click on the Settings icon, this is the menu that appears with a myriad of options.  This is also where you can access Help (click to make it larger):


HootSuite has created a very handy Quick Start Guide. Note: it is geared towards the PC-based program, but it may prove helpful to you.
